Life is an ever-changing voyage. From the random turbulent storms and massive waves to overcome. To the stops along the way. It’s important that you adequately prepare for the journey ahead. These odysseys present themselves in different ways for different people. Every person’s journey is unique.
To navigate the waves of life you are going to need a vessel tailored for the voyage. One that is fortified yet light enough to float. By vessel I mean the entity that is you. A combination of mind body and spirit. Achieving such a feat comes from being purposeful with your preparation. You must remember to acquire a heading, check your baggage, and check for any leaks.
Acquire a Heading

Before you embark on any journey it helps to know where you want to go. Set a destination or a goal that you want to reach and set course for the X. Know that the waters you plan to traverse may be of the turbulent variety, and that’s ok. Give yourself plenty of time to prep for the journey you are wanting to embark on. Take your time and make your way to whatever you desire. Be sure that you remember this is a journey not a race therefore it doesn’t matter how fast you get to your destination. Understand that there may come a point in time where you won’t be sailing towards your goal, rather you are adrift just floating along. The point is to remain buoyant. For as long as you do, you have the opportunity to redirect and maybe take a different path to your goal.
Check your Baggage

Once you acquire a heading and have determined where you want to go, now you must check your baggage. Take time to inventory what you could potentially be bringing with you on this journey. Know that too much baggage can weigh you down and make you less buoyant. I encourage you to find a way to make peace with your past issues and challenges. As their collective weight is too much for your vessel to hold on to. Not to mention it makes navigation and traversal more difficult as you stand to run the risk of sinking from the weight of it all. Understand that what once was doesn’t have to come with you on this new journey. Only its lessons. For this new voyage will bring with it new challenges and opportunities.
Checking for Leaks

Now that you know where you want to go and what you are bringing with you, its imperative that you check your vessel for leaks. Small holes in your vessel are not a problem at first. However, the longer these holes go without correction the greater the risk becomes of them compounding and creating a bigger issue than you were anticipating. Do your best to patch any and every hole that you can find in your vessel. For the more fortifying you do up front means less you have to repair later. I encourage you to be thorough as this is the only vessel you get, and you need it for the countless journeys you still have left to go on. Remember that your vessel doesn’t need to be pretty, only functional.
In Closing…
Your next journey lays before you and you ask yourself can I make it to the end. Yes, you can! Now is the time to prepare and assess what needs to be done to ensure you are both fortified and light enough for the voyage ahead. Acquire a heading, set a destination of growth, and plot a course for success. Check your baggage, be mindful of what you bring with you on this journey. Finally, check for any leaks, assess your vessel, and fill any gaps that may prove to be problematic on the coming journey. Now that you have tended to your vessel be encouraged, for like a boat out at sea you can float too. Go in good faith and be blessed. You Got This!!!
