There’s rarely a time when we go through something, and we don’t question why. Life delivers situations after situations all with a different purpose. Some situations are a product of our actions. While others are objectively coincidental and are handed to us at random.

As unexpected and often uncomfortable as most of these situations are what a lot of us miss is the reason. Granted the reason often finds its place nested in the seclusion of the aftermath. Proving to be illusive and unwanted a lot of us miss the reason behind a situation. Either we don’t want to know what the reason was, or we can’t figure it out.

Well, I find that if and when possible, you try to get an understanding of the why something happened or is happening. Trust the process and know that all things work together for your good. Meaning the journey may be riddled with hazards and misfortune but if you are blessed to make it to the other side of it then you are now enriched and equipped.

Understand the process can take as long as it needs to and although not ideal, I find it helps to at least be able to recognize where you are in the process. First you suffer then you rationalize. Next you make some adjustments and establish yourself. Then finally you shine!

Suffering

Although not always physical our suffering is a pivotal part of the process. I know, nobody usually wants to suffer willingly but it’s through our suffering that the seeds of change are planted. Different types of suffering usually breeds different types of change.

Suffering can look like a sickness or an ailment. Suffering can look like a misfortune or a loss. Suffering can look like financial hardship or mental exhaustion. Basically, suffering can be whatever it can be and is phase one of the process because it sets up the WHY.

Rationalize

Once the dust settles and the initial mystique of your suffering wears off you now enter a place where you can make sense of things. Understanding more than just cause and effect we can now start to see the potential for growth in this situation. We may not be able to see how the road ahead looks however, we have the opportunity to decide whether or not we will be a victim of circumstance or if we will have the victory over our situation.

Do your best to keep a positive outlook during this period as positivity fosters productivity. Where negativity succumbs to grief and pity.

Adjustment

As time moves on you will now have to adjust accordingly. Adjust to the situation in at hand. Maybe by the changing of habits and behaviors, to the changing of outlooks and even sometimes location. This is the part of the process where you start to break ground on potentially ending this situation better than you started.

Take care to be patient with yourself as change takes time and sometimes you have to start over with some things or pick up where you fell off. The point is that you are making the effort.

Establish

This part of the process goes hand in hand with the last. As you make the necessary adjustments now you must establish yourself. What I mean by this is putting things into place to aid you in your adjustment phase. Things like new endeavors or new connections.

Maybe seeking help wherever you can. All these things work to define the momentum of your growth and healing. Give yourself something to connect with.

Shine

The culmination of your choices and fortitude results in you overcoming your situation. This is the phase that we all strive to reach as it is the resolution of a process of growth. Once you get to this phase smile and know that you have achieved a wonderful feat.

Walk in the power of your success and know that success looks different for every one of us. So don’t waste your time trying to compare your accomplishments to others. Know that every hurdle that you overcame is a victory for You so please be proud. Also, when you can share your success with others as you never know how hearing how you made it can inspire others to push forward.

In Closing

You find yourself knee deep in a situation where you are having to endure hardships and complications. You are at a loss for the question on your mind is why me. Well as someone who is currently in the process of growing through what they are having to go through I want to encourage you to trust the process. Understand that the suffering is necessary for it’s the starting line for this race you’re about to run. Take some time to rationalize and see if your eyes can discover the silver lining. Next start to make some adjustments, know that change is necessary but not always easy. Which is why you focus on establishing yourself, give yourself something to connect to and or look forward to. Finally, when it’s all said and done Shine on my friend! From one individual to another it’s imperative that you trust in yourself, trust in God, but most importantly trust in the process. Go forward and be blessed. You Got This!!!
