Describe an item you were incredibly attached to as a youth. What became of it?

My childhood was built around creativity…literally. The item in question or rather items was my first set of LEGO. When I was about five years old my oldest brother would give me a gift that would quite literally help me build my future. He gave me my first set of LEGO.

This one set would go on to multiply exponentially and even evolve to an extent. My collection of LEGO is pretty sizable still small compared with some I’ve seen online. But it awakened something in me long ago that would shape my interests and talents as a man.

From a kid playing with plastic bricks to an artist, a writer, and a maker. Those first LEGO pieces hold a special place in my heart and many special places in my current collection.

    1. You’re welcome. It’s a great but potentially consuming hobby to have lol. Should you find yourself getting into it I wish you the best and may each build unlock a new level of creativity and confidence in yourself.

  2. I was Lego kid when they first when from being multi-colored plastic rectangles of varying size to the themed model-like sets. That coincidence with the original Star Wars movies, so space was a common theme. I combined the eras to build my own Star Fleet. But mine included the big, boring things like tankers to feed the more-fun fighters and transports because even fighter pilots need lunch and a change of underwear. Yeah…the kid who did that grew up to be an engineer 🤔

    1. That’s awesome. Yeah I always felt like LEGO not only brought out fun and entertainment but also critical thinking and problem solving creativity.
