Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?
As I walk through this journey of life I do my best to take note of any potential lessons that can be learned from what is now my past. The way my mind works I look to what was to see if it can help prepare me for what will be. I spend a lot of my time trekking down memory lane. And although not always pleasant it is purposeful.
An example I can give is one that is close to my heart. My start to blogging came as a result of losing my special someone. She passed away suddenly a little over two years ago. The more I look back over our relationship the more holes I notice.
I pay attention to what happened, how I responded, and how my actions affected me overall. The reason I do this is because I am hopeful for the future and understanding what went wrong or what my expectations are will help me have a healthy relationship in the future.
Don’t get me wrong I spend a lot of time thinking about my aspirations and goals. However, I spend more time making sure I am educated and equipped from the lessons of my past. To me the seeds of the future lay buried in my past. Although I don’t know what tomorrow holds, I know that because I overcame in the past, so too can I overcome in the future.
