Moving from one season to the next is a somewhat stressful yet often exciting process. We put forth a lot of effort in our various seasons all with the purpose of progressing forward. Everything from new successes and accomplishments to new discoveries and opportunities. A common practice is to let the positive situation give you momentum to keep pushing on.

However, sometimes the positivity doesn’t last. So, in times such as these we have to be able to keep the momentum going in spite of. Whether you go through a preverbal famine or the ever changing constantly rotating cycle of negativity you must be able to maintain your momentum in one way or another.

I know what you are going to say, how do I move forward when there’s no movement to be had. Or how do I move forward when I have experienced a setback. My answer to you is this, positive forward momentum is not always an external thing. Meaning that you can move forward emotionally mentally and spiritually.

Maintaining momentum in a time where there doesn’t seem to be much progress is not impossible. Like many other things it takes a slight adjustment in your perspective and a significant amount of purposeful effort.

Momentum during Famine

There will come a point in time where you will experience a period of forced stillness. A time where there is no significant movement in any direction. I label this as a famine or the season in which nothing blooms or grows. This is a draining and stressful space to be in for it sees you starving for change yet there is nothing to feed off of except what were’s and what could be’s.

The key to maintaining your momentum in this season is to keep up with your housekeeping. Or basically making sure you are in a healthy place internally. Not only mentally emotionally and spiritually but also physically. Take some time to address the different aspects of your health by rationing out positive energy.

Address your body as this is your primary vessel. Make sure you are taking care of yourself physically. It doesn’t have to be specifically going to the gym or dieting but just make sure you are not neglecting or entertaining self-destructive behaviors.

Address your emotions as this is your primary method of communication with the world around you. If you are feeling adverse emotions do what you can to adjust your perspective and see if you can improve your emotional state.

Address your mind as this is the driving force of most areas in our lives. Take time to introduce positive affirmations and rationally sound thoughts. Do your best to expel negativity as it only serves to take up space and energy both of which are precious commodities.

Finally address your spirit for this your essence. Turn some of your focus into spiritually enriching activities. Quiet times and services are often effective tools to help you get some measure of spiritual peace.

Momentum during Setbacks

In life things don’t always go our way and a lot of times we come to a point where we are inconvenienced by one thing or another. We find ourselves feeling all out of sorts. Frustrated and overwhelmed we start to doubt if things can get better. We become lost in the fog of our struggle and we either start heading in a wrong direction or we let our momentum outright stop.

The pressure of whatever causes us to be blinded by that which blindsided us in the first place. We become consumed by it and are unable to see past it as our gaze becomes shortsighted. Stoking the flames of your iniquities only sees them become more powerful and visible.

I want to encourage you to take a moment and look beyond what you see. Take some time to ponder the possibilities of what could be. Think positive and negate negative thoughts by focusing on possible positive post pressure possibilities. Being optimistic goes a long way towards helping you maintain momentum in the face of setbacks.

Another great tool to help your momentum during setbacks is to be productive. Staying active and focused on any particular tasks sees less time for wallowing in your own despair. Productivity leads to progress in multiple areas and potentially the one you need the most.

One thing that I would encourage you to become familiar with is the concept of falling back to move forward. This can seem like such a conundrum, but it is true that sometimes we have to go backwards to make a substantial amount of progress forwards. Another way to look at this is being torn down to be built back up.

Progress brings with it many amenities that you can’t properly take advantage of if you’re full of past baggage.

Momentum during Prosperity

Moving forward in life can be a high that you want to chase for as long as you can. Well, how does one do that. You remain consistent. You continue to think positively and rationally. And finally, you learn how to bend.

Maintaining your consistency is the most crucial part in keeping your momentum during good times. The amount of effort and dedication that you applied to make it happen should remain the same if not increase as time goes on. However, you kept yourself focused on your journey please continue to do what works.

On top of consistency remember to govern your thoughts. Positivity and rationality are your greatest allies here. Keep your mind focused and keep your spirits up with positive energy and rational thinking.

And finally learn how to bend which simply means learn how to adjust or adapt. Life is ever changing, and it constantly introduces us to new challenges and opportunities. Learn how to bend which sees you adjust to the challenge at hand but still maintain your foundation.

Just because things are going your way doesn’t mean you can afford to slack up. Maintain your momentum and sees your potential take you to new heights.

In Closing

As people our collective goal is to move forward in life and get to our subsequent next levels. This requires us to maintain our momentum on our journey. Momentum in times of famine which sees you addressing your physical spiritual emotional and mental health. Momentum in times of setbacks which requires you to adjust your perspective and do your best to be productive. Finally, momentum in times of prosperity which calls for you to keep up with your consistency and make sure you are adaptive to change. Sometimes the greatest change starts with the smallest adjustment. Keep moving. Go forward and be blessed. You Got This!!!
